Thai people are consuming less and less beef. Meanwhile, merchants from Vietnam came to purchase live cattle from NE Thailand. Price of live cattle thus increased from 15000 Baht to 40000 Baht each. Now price of beef increased from 180 Baht per kg up to 300-350 Baht per kg. More Thai people switched into consuming more pork or other cheaper foods.
I think we are witnessing another change in culture and way of life. Earlier, we consumed more fish and vegetables, then more pork and chicken and beef. Now beef (from cows and buffalos) will be less and less.
